VPN between W2K and W98? HELP!!!!!!

By pambar ·
I have Win2K server. Not part of a Domain nor does it have AD. I have VPN configured and ready to go. If I am connecting from remote Win98 client - 1) do I need to in the same work group to see the W2K server. 2) Do I need to be in the same sunet as the W2K server. 3) If I am connecting to different W2K servers, then do I continually change work group and IP scheme to make the connection. 4) If I move my Win98 client would I see any benefit in VPN?

Thanks Much

Win2k VPN

Win2k VPN servers have to have a VPN policy enabled and you will need to specify who can logon via the vpn. Win98 will connect fine to Win2k via VPN as long as the policy is setup. Why no domain? If you are connecting to different servers on different subnets or segments the policy issue is the same and the connectivity may require you to do some routing rather than changing you IP. Changing to Win2K PRo would simplify things.
