VPN CLient problems

am trying to setup vpn between my home and my laptop
i can get the vpn connection to connect using the
draytek smart vpn client but cannot get routing to work

cmd line basically says interface index is wrong or the gatway does not lie on the same network as the interface.

ive been trying to set this up for a while now and and basically stumped and help would definetely be appreciated.

i am trying to connect to my pc that is behind a netgear dt834 router
the vpn is setup on the router.

when i try to ping the router on the remote address it indicates negotiating ip security and shows 100% loss

any ideas??
