I have been running a WinNt 4.0 VPN server for some time. A day and a half ago my users could not log in from their win98 machines via the PPTP connection. They were receiving an Error 650-The computer you are dialing does not respond to the networkrequest.
I was receiving no errors in the event viewer until this morning. I got this event: ID 2077 An error occurred in the Point to Point Protocol module on port VPN7. The PPP negotiation is not converging. According to Technet, I should call MSTechnical Support.
I am looking for some help in this matter and trying to save a few dollars.
I have reapplied Service Pack 6a on the server, and I have no filtering turned on.
On the windows 98 client I have removed and reinstalled the VPN adapter, done the same with MS client for networks, and even tried a machine with a clean build.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
