VPN help with NT 4.0?

by rwaite . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

Ok here goes:

I have an ISDN ascend router 50, I am using proxy server and NT 4.0 SP5, I have two Ethernet cards in the server one attached to the router and one attached to the internal hub. I have 15 users attached to an Ethernet network using 192.168.xxx.xxx addresses. I have 5 registered IP addresses 209.131.xxx.xxx. Two of the addresses are set up one for the router one for the internal card attached to the router. One address is setup for broadcast.

I am using Pcanywhere with RASdialing in to the server. Dialup works but is very slow. I have the Pcanywhere loaded on several PC?s to allow the person calling in to attach to their local PC. This gives them full access to their own PC using the HOST option.

I cannot ping the outside world from the local PC?s but I can use the internal proxy to load the Internet and using a browser this works OK. We then have Internet access.

Ok, I am very new at this and really need some help. I want to use VPN and allow the users to dial in to or use their cable modems to attach to the Internet first then tunnel to their own systems. Just like they do now using RAS and Pcanywhere. I am not sure how to use it in with this scenario but I think it should work.

The questions are, will this work? And if so how do I get this to work using what I have setup already? I do have an extra machine I could attach to the network and use it as a VPN machine?
I need help. Thanks In advance.
