VPN on DSL

By unclelee47 ·
How is the best way to setup VPN on DSL. I have DSL at the server location and DSL at the Client location where there are 2 computers that we want to log on to the server and use a database program for a condominium.

If you are using Win 9 go into network connections, create a new connection to log into your server using the VPN adapter and then supply the IP address you are trying to access. You will then be prompted to supply a username and password. You will be able to access your server. Make sure the profiles you are using to dial in have a password that is not set to expire and that they have dial-in privilages. Also keep in mind you may run into problems if you don't have a business account with your DSL service provider because they are not providing users with static IP's that don't purchase a business account.

Oh yeah, go into the dial-up networking folder in my computer to set up the VPN connection and make sure the computers have the VPN adapter set up on them. Please feel free to e-mail me with questions.

You'll need to use some kind of sharing program to allow the others to log on or pay the DSL provider for more IPs. Some DSL doesn't like all brands of VPN either so choose carefully.....
