VPN on wIn 2K Proff

By k4k ·
WE have VPN configured between our company & our customer using Cisco PIX 506 FIREWALL. we have created a IPSEC tunnel & the encryption used is 3DES. we are able to access our customers LAN using this tunnel. am using the Pre-Shared key Authentication method

now can i create the same tunnel without using CISCO PIX 506 firewall & just by using the VPN, IPSEC & 3DES support given in Win 2K proff. i'll configure this settings with the pre-shared key on win2k machine.

How far will this work ? do u have any valuble input for me in configuring vpn on WIN 2k ?

Greetings

Keep an eye on your user profile on your Clients'
server.
We set a out of office worker up at one of our clients sites (using VPN) and we found that the use profile was forced to back to the server and we only got restricted access when dialing in.
You may need to force the profile on the server.

Not much help I'm sorry
I did'nt configure the site in question
but will get the full details and let you know

Regards

Further Details

I have checked and there is a "slow connection issue"
You can try the Below if you have a problem
On the Server W2K
In AD Select Group Policies Tab
Select Default Policy and click on Edit
Expand Computer Configuration, thenAdministrative Templates, then System, then Logon
Locate the Wait for remote profile and double click it
Change to Enable this option.

On client PC: W2K
Run regedit
Open HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System
Right-click into right-hand pane and select New
Create a new DWORD entry with a name of SlowLinkProfileDefault
(note the letercase!)
Double-click this new key and enter a value of 1
Exit/close regedit
