VPN Setup

By info ·
I need to setup VPN connection for a remote user to connect to the Windows 2000 Server w/sp3. I installed 2nd Nic card. Assigned a live IP to one Nic card and one internal IP to the 2nd Nic card. Install and setup VPN. I cannot browse the Internet if two connections are enabled. If I disable the connection with the live IP, then I can browse the Internet. Can someone be kind enough give me suggestion to this problem? I appreciate any help. Thanks

"Being" on the Internet with two connections should not prohit your use of the Internet. HOWEVER, When using two devices that are connected to the internet at once you will probably have to guide programs to which device they are to use. For example many people do not have a problem with the basic apache configuration where they bind to port 80 on * because there is only one Internet adapter. In your case if you wanted one IP only for that server you would need to specify the IP address.Andrew

One thing when you have 2 or more NICs is that only ONE can have a default gateway. I.e. if you want to use the "Live" network to access the Internet, use that as the default GW. Check your settings, I bet you have 2 default GWs set, this happenedto me. Once I removed one of the GW settings, the machine worked like a champ. Hope this helps. Roger
