VPN Setup With DSL For Corp Email

by trobbins1 . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can provide some clarity to this topic. We are deploying DSL for our executives at their homes so that they will be able to access files and receive and send email from our LAN. Each user is using a laptop and docking station (one at work and one at home) running Win98 or 98SE in separate profiles. In addition, we’ve set up Linksys DSL Routers at each user location to act as a firewall. The users would use one profile at work and a different one at home. A Linux VPN server has been set up on our LAN. To connect to the server the user would run a batch file on his/her desktop which would prompt the user for a username and password for the VPN server. Once authenticated the LAN network login would appear (this is what they would normally see at work). Once a username and password was provided, their login script would execute and all of their shared directories would be mapped the the appropriate drives.

The problem: file access isn’t working however the users can retrieve corporate email but not send mail outside the domain.
