VPN start up

By philldmc ·
I've currently configured my computer for an external VPN connection. How can I get that VPN connection to automatically start when I start the computer?

I have to manually start the connection each time I start the computer.

Create a shortcut for the connection, then go into Start, All Programs, right-click on the Startup folder, choose open, then copy the shortcut into that folder. Next time you reboot, it should connect automatically.

Already tried that and it didn't work, I placed the shortcut icon in the startup folder hoping it would work, but it did not.

You did not state if your internet connection was broadband or dial up. However, select START, then CONNECT TO and select SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS. Right click the VPN connection and select SET AS DEFAULT CONNECTION.

If your password and username forthe VPN connection is saved it should automatically started when you start the computer.

The connection I have is a broadband connection, the VPN is the secondary connection, if I do as you suggest I have difficulities connecting to the internet, the VPN will work but not my primary.

get to properties on your VPN connection choose network / Internet protocol (TCPIP). Properties again, select advanced button and UNcheck "use remote gateway"
Now You got local Internet and VPN connection!
Good Luck
