I have a hardware (SonicWall) VPN connection between our main office and two branch offices. The VPN is working, I can ping the branch office by IP address. However, I cannot ping by name, and when I try to set up a trust, it can’t find the domain. My setup:
Main office is a Win2K server, domain is RRLAW. Branch office is NT4 Server, domain is work. Both are configured as WINS servers. The firewalls (VPN is hardware, firewall-to-firewall) are configured to allow NetBIOS broadcasts over VPN.
I can ping the other office by IP. I can’t ping any computer by computer name, and the server here can’t find the work domain to configure a trust relationship. If I do a search for the server by IP at my XP workstation I can access everything, but can’t get to it by browsing. The work domain shows up in Network Neighborhood (or My Network Places, or whatever the bloody thing is called now), but if I try to open it, it pauses, then says it can’t be found.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
