VPN with Exchange

By caustic ·
I currently have migrated Novell to Exchange 2003. I have 7 Locations that connect via a point to point vpn. Each location has a server that is a domain controller and replicates to the corporate domain controller. Each location has a different IP address, for example - Corporate has 192.168.1.x, the next location has 192.168.2.x, and so on. My Exchange box is and everyone can Ping it by servername and ip as well as FQDN. Until I get to the locations to setup Outlook 2003 on the client machines, I have set them up with OWA. The problem is this - I have to set them up to login via instead of servername/exchange. Why will it not see servername/exchange? In addition, the users have to login via domain/username then their password, how can I change this also?

Run RPC over HTTP

This will allow your users to use outlook and be outside your office environment. This way your workers don't need OWA except when they are home, but even then they can setup outlook with another profile if they use for personal email. I would google the instructions. I did ours in 1 hr and has never had a problem. You will need to make registry changes so make sure your comfortable with that. I could also do it remotely if you needed to. Take care.
