had two hard drives, and recently I bought and installed Windows 2000 Pro on a new hard drive.
I kept my hard drive that has Windows 98SE installed on it, and I hooked up the older two hard drives onto the secondary IDE cable as master and slave, and I plugged the new hard drive and the DVD drive into the primary cable.
When my computer starts up and tries to auto detect whats on the primary and secondary cable it only shows the devices on the primary cable.
I have a HPT366 bios so then the screen changes to blue and it shows the two hard drives on the secondary cable, but it says they are on the primary one.
Then once I boot into Windows 2000 Pro, it doesn’t show ethier of those two hard drives, only the drive its installed on and the DVD drive.
In the device manager it shows two “mass storage controllers”, which I am expecting to be the hard drives, but it asks for drivers, and I don’t think they came with any.
But then if I unplug the hard drive on the primary cable, it will boot onto the secondary master, which is Windows 98SE. Once it boots it displays itself and the other hard drive on the secondary cable, so I know they are both working.
If it is needed, my motherboard is a BE6-II Abit, with 12/03/2001-I440BX-6A69KA19C-70 bios and version 1.25 HPT366 bios.
