W2K/Exchange Migration

By bridog ·
I have been asked to build a new Exchange server running Exchange 2000, making that the PDC running Active Directory, and migrate our current NT4 domain to a mixed NT4 - W2K domain. All of the documentation I have found regarding migration explain taking your current NT 4 PDC, upgrading to W2K and install all necessary services on it. I do not have this option as I need to introduce a new box into the domain, make that the pdc/exhange server. Can anyone point me in the right direction on anydocumentation for this kind of migration. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Brian

Take your new box - install NT 4.0 as a BDC on your network. Go into computer management and promote this box to PDC. Once this has taken place and everything has replicated, upgrade the new box to Win2k with AD and then install Exchange after youhave applied sp1. When all done apply sp2.

good luck
