W2K Ghost image on Compaq

by denver.drake . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

Our corporate rollout plan is to have a single Ghost 6.51 image, boot a PC to DOS, with a network connection, an load the image. This method has been tested with all of our “standard” Dell units, and works every time. I am testing a Compaq Deskpro 4000, and another site is testing an Armada. We both get the same result: Upon restart, the BIOS splashes COMPAQ, then goes to a dark screen, with the standard “Starting Windows” bar across the bottom. Once the progress bar is complete, it goes back to the BIOS splash screen. This cycle repeats endlessly. We can F8 and tell it, safe mode, or safe mode with command prompt, or debugging mode, or any other thing. It immedietely goes right back into its’ cycle. I have loaded W2K on this Deskpro before, using normal install procedures, and it works fine. So, there are no hardware compatability problems. I have called Compaq, and check the Microsoft Knowledge base…No luck. Any suggestions?
