W2K net use error

By Borg7of9 ·
I try to type a netuse command at the dos prompt on a W2kpro workstation and I get an error that I can not because the clock is not in sync with the primary domain controller. I have only one W2K server running as AD and DNS and DHCP is running fromthe router. I have no idea how to get past this error msg!!!

If time synchronization isthe only problem, try

Did you also check the time zone on the server?

OK thanks, this brings another question, when I sync the time, its says the current time is say say 4pm and the local time is 1pm which is correct, and then the workstation however shows the current time instead of local

actually, I just found out, the clock does not even match either, even though the command prompt shows the good info?

ok, I think maybe it has something to do with time zones. I changed the time zone on the workstation to one that would make the local time match the correct time, even though it is the wrong zone!!! Any comments would still be appreciated!!!

I use a time sync in my logon script and then the net use follows later in the script. In the script I put:
set TIMESERVER=\\servername

rem Set the computer clock from the time-server clock
if "%TIMESERVER%"=="" goto NOTIMES
echo --- Set computer time from %TIMESERVER% ---
net time %TIMESERVER% /set /yes

This sets the time from the server for me and then allows the net use command run later in the script.
