W2k Pro and RAS

By Spiego ·
I am having problems, once dialed in, authenticating to the domain through a Win2k Pro PC acting as a RAS server. I am dialing in via a notebook running Win98. The message that I get in the event viewer is the following: "The user NEWWEST\jsmith failed an authentication attempt due to the following reason: The current configuration only supports local user accounts". I checked the TCP/IP properties of the incomming connection and the check box to allow callers to access my local area network isselected. Suggestions are greatly welcomed.

The user has to added to the Domain user account to gain access to the local acccount.
Check the domain user account to verify that user has been added to Domain user account

First add the win2k machine to the domain then make sure that any user who has dial in permission ebabled may dial in on this computer (I think you set it in the RRAS service tool, or in the local policy) next make sure on the domain controller thatthe user you want to be able to access the ras server has dial in permission.

The win2k machine is already part of the domain. It's not a dial in permission issue. I can connect fine, but when I get the network login window, that is when it won't let me log into the domain and I get the meesage on the event viewer of the win2k machine
