I have a W2K Pro notebook working fine in a NT 4 domain. We promoted a new server to PDC and demoted the old one. Since then, the notebook could not log onto the domain. I removed the notebook from the domain and tried to re-join and get the following msg – ‘The specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted’. I can log onto the notebook using a local account and access other resources on the domain and our wan through authentication, but cannot join. I can also ping the PDC by NETBIOS name and IP address.
I have checked all IP info – subnet, gateway, wins, dns. All are ok. I have also tried everything suggested in the W2K pro resource kit. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
