W2K PROF LAPTOPS ON AND OFF A LAN

by lumbini . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

Hi Guys,
When a user logs on to the domain using his Laptop running Windows 2000 Professional, he is given one profile and when he takes his machine out of the network, he has to log into the local machine which will give him his local profile. This means that there are two profiles being created even though he is a single user. Because of this, his email, contacts and desktop settings do not appear when he logs out of the Lan and onto the local machine.

I know the documents are on his local hard disk for which I could redirect his My Documents folder to point to the Lan Profile’s My Documents folder when he is on hid local profile. However, How do I keep his Email, Contacts, Desktop, etc common to both so that he has all of this common, regardless of him logging on to the domain or to the local machine. Windows 98
doesn’t have such a problem as all users can be given the same settings. How do we do this in Windows 2000 Professional.

I badly need some advice on this.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Best Regards,
Nigel.
