w2K server install

By ronmm ·
No shares are working. It's supposed to be a print server. It's a member server in a NT4 network. I built another w2k member print server thats working fine in this environment. Anyone got a quick pointer to what the server setup for a print server should be? I've been thru the Server setup help to no avail...

I am wondering why you are creating a print server in a NT 4.0 system if you are indicating that the W2k solution works for you. My guess is that this you currently have this NT 4.0 print server identified as part of a existing NT 4.0 domain with no trust in-place to the Windows 2000 AD environment. If this is correct I would recommend that you ensure that this is setup this way. Also, do you have WINS installed in this environment since it is still required for NT 4.0 environments? If not, the you will need to ensure that it is correctly setup and that both environments and computers point to this WINS box for resolutions. Dont forget to set DNS to also fail over to WINS for previous versions (i.e. NT 4.0 domains).
