W2k Server Multi NIC's Static Route Prob

By shaun_davies ·
I have the following problem. We connect to the internet via an ADSL router this then connects to an ISA server with 3 nics. 1 to the WAN, 1 to a DMZ and the third going to a zyxcel firewall which our lan sits behind. I cannot seem to get the static routes working so that from the ADLS network you can ping the zyxcel firewall and the DMZ. IS there a wizard or any easy way of going. 500 points on offer thanks

I'll suggest a few things here. first dump the 3rd NIC. probably causing most of your problems. Next is if you want a host on the DMZ use the DSL router's DMZ port, third to ping hosts behind a firewall, the firewall has to allow ICMP packets through it for ping to work. That includes ISA server [which means you have to create a ICMP ping packet filter in ISA server to allow ICMP ping to the LAN.

note you might want to try an ARP request and see what comes up for your 3 NICs if you insist on using 3 in ISA server. If you didn't bind IP addresses to NICs an ARP request might show 2 of the NICs with the same IP address. Do a ARP -A requests from the command line in ISA and see what comes up.
