w2k test server installation setup

I am trying to set up a standalone test server for w2k. I’d like to set it up as a domain controller. When I run DC Promo I get the following error: AD installation failed. The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting see windows help. I don’t want to attach it to the network, but I can’t seem to get past this. I’ve tried doing it with just a workgroup. Thanks for the help!
