Slow processing can be contributed to a number of things
Windows XP uses a lot of special effects in diplaying, you may want to turn off some of the effects

XP uses a lot of resources,so you should check to see what services that you donot need and stop the services.

A rule of thumb that I apply when upgrading to XP is to run the maintenance wizard to clean up and defrag the hard drive, this may help some.

Determine what programs are being loaded at startup, some may not be needed.

It is difficult to say what one may consider as being slow, when their is comparrison to old operating system, because each system uses resources and services differently.

I have worked longer and found in the event viewer that my issue is logging on the domain. It appears to work but I have three error logs in the application log?

Turns out to be the DNS set to outside ip address instead of the w2k server + certificate server requesting certfs not necessary. Go figure…
