W2K workstation and roaming profiles.

By snide3 ·
I am working with NT4 server and have some, but not all, W2K workstations. I have no choice but to utilize roaming profiles because of network design. Since my profiles reside on the NT server, my users on the W2K wks have been complaining of many different problems with their profiles. It seems that the workstation downloads the profile into as a separate profile every time the user logs in. I mean to say when I look at the ?Profile? and ?Documents and Settings? folders on the W2K wks the users have multiple profiles. This has become a problem with some of my users and their abilities on the network. In addition to this, when I try to delete these profiles from that wks it will not allow me, it says it is being utilized. It looks like the user, when logged into another w2k wks is connecting to this workstation for there profile. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Thanks for your help?

Create a directory with the users name e.g. "Jim" on the network.
Go to Active directory on the server and then right click the users name > Click profile and then under profile path set it to \\servername\user\jim.
login as that user in win2k Right click the my computer > Properties >user profiles after you have logged in as that user. set profile to roaming. Note win2k creates a local and roamin directory in the C:/doc&settings.
A network folder and a standalone folder named jim.Domain name
