W2K3 with SP1 member server in Windows 2003 Domain

By jevont ·
Hi, I'm having trouble finding a definitive answer on the Internet about whether or not having a newly built W2K3 member server with SP1 in a W2K3 domain where the domain controllers are not SP1 (yet) is ok?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Works for us. . .

We've had SP1 in our non-SP1 DC domain for quite some time now. No apparent issues. Caveat is that it might depend on applications and services, I suppose. We're running Exchange 2003, SQL 2000, IIS, and a bunch of non-MS applications.

Yes you can

You can use W2k3 SP1 member servers in your domain.

You even can install them in a Windows 2000 or NT domain. Check the list on the Microsoft site for the things that have changed and when you do need to upgrade your schema and/or domain controllers.

The same goes by the way for Windows 2003 R2
