W32 time errors

By courtney ·
Ok, So I have setup my server like this: net time \\pdc_name /setsntp: "192.5.41.40 192.4.41.40" but I keep getting errors like "Attempt to set date prior to 1995 aborted and "The NTP Server did not respond."

How do I stop w32time message. I get them on all Win2K servers. Ahh!

See KB216734. This article describes how to configure an authoritative time server in Windows.

Acutally, if all of your Win2K servers have this error, then I am gonna assume you do NOT have Active Directory enabled and running. If AD was up, then these time error would lead to your Win2k servers not being able to log into the AD domain!
So, if you have an NT4 PDC, read Technet article 258059:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;258059
(please remove any spaces)

that article will tell you how to set your PDC to be the time server for all Win2K servers.

hope this helps
