W3SVC Logon failure every hour

By khunter ·
I am getting a error every hour Event 100 for the W3SVC service. "The server was unable to logon the Windows NT account 'h6iewPlsjPo=' due to the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. the data is the error code.

This has been going on for a couple weeks. I may be wrong, but I am assuming that this is a service trying to login. What I am trying to find out is how can I track down the service that keeps trying to login, or if I am wrong about it being a service, how can I track down where it is trying to login from?

Make sure that your IUSR_(Machine name) account is active. Or, if you are not using the WWW service in IIS, disable it.

Thank you. The Network Administrator before me changed the passwords to several UID's and didn't let anyone know before he left. He was gone before I came here. What a jerk. Thanks again.

If you can estimate the next time the event will happen check the server control panel to see who is connected & has whichever files open, this should rule out remote access.
Have a look at the web sites you are hosting, do you have anything like the outlook web access for exchange running.
Do you have any backup/antivirus software running (some need user accounts to complete there job)
