well want to know really how to install an bootalbe os using an external cd-rom drive. Reason is that, I have a laptop with no cd-rom suport and wanting to load windows xp. now when ever i try to boot from the external cd-rom is hard to take from there it tells me no bootable drive found. So will likely need a help.

Check BIOS settings

Is the external CD-Rom proprietary to the manufacturer or is a USB type connection.

If it is proprietary, then you may need to contact the manufacturer for more information.

If it is a USB connection, then it is possible that somewhere in the BIOS will be an option for allowing/Disallowing booting to a USB device.

well its a usb and did go through the bios option and this does not give u the option to choose which port you will like to boot from.
So don't know what next
