By arun_rit5 ·
Madam ,
I have just completed my undergraduate degree with majors in computer science & engg , want to further extend my specifications .
Can u please shed some lights on , if i will pursue MS ( datamining) , are there any fair chances of getting job , i know this sluggish market of IT will not improve in significant 2 yrs approx , but just asking , because it will cost heavy amount of money .
i m presently working in some manufacturing company where i m learning BAAN IV tools programming , related to ERP . ]
What according to you will be a better approach but this thing is sure i ll definetly pursue my MS in spring 2004 . a bit scared that what will happen next after completion of my MS as it is same as BS you have to look for the market scene .

want to pursue MS in Data warehouse / Da

Dear Sir:

You are on the right track as ERP/CRM has been very evident in the past 3 years. It will continue to emerge in the next 5-10years. Datawarehouse/data mining will play a major role in historical data. As the businesses get more competitive because technology are driving them to change the way they do business. OLAP technology a subset of DAta warehousing should make you up right ahead. As the India predicted that I.T. workforce and professional will be getting tougher and only the fittest will survive. Imagine the growth workforce of I.T. professionals in the past 10years. Information and reporting tools which derived from historical data will be a major field of businesses. As CEO, CIO, President are looking and continue to review piles of historical data for their failure, achievements and improvements will give them an edge and prompt them to call or change their business model as they can predict and forecast the future of their companies. Thus, data warehousing will give you a significant edge aside from your technical background such as programming.
