XP should see the device and assign it a drive letter.

Just make sure you use the "Safely Remove Hardware" utility in the system tray to turn off access to the device before you remove it. Failure to do so could end up corrupting the file system on the device.

The only thing required here is a Port to plug the device into.

The only possible problem if the device actually works is that if this computer is part of a Business Domain the IT Section could have disabled the USB Ports to maintain Data Security.

Provided that the Pen Drive works and there are no Security Issues in place all that is required is to have the computer running with Windows Open and you plug in the device to a unused Port. You should get a Window on the screen asking you what you want to open the device with and a list of Installed Software or the Display Contents. All you need do is scroll down left click on your desired choice and press enter and it should be working.

If this computer originally had 98 installed or earlier it is possible that you may need to enable the USB Ports in BIOS or add a USB to PCI Card as the USB ports on the M'Board are unlikely to be USB2.
