I have a WD 500g external HD – powered it up today and the green light on the power box is very faint and flashes. It does not power the HD up at all.
When I remove the HD the power light goes back to solid green, but as soon as the power goes to the HD it returns to the faint flash.
Would this be as power cable issue? Or is my HD dead?
I did try another power point in case THAT was the issue but it didn’t make any difference – though it DID get to power up the HD and I had a blue light on that temporarily until I turned it off – thinking it DID work and meaning to put it back into the surge-protected power socket!
