We had a big storm here... over 30 mps windspeeds

More than the usual uprootings, never before have I seen big healthy trees snapped like matchsticks.
Now I've seen several, in a small 100 m radius area.
They look like they've been exploded, the stump left a jagged mess.
We had just gotten all the dead leaves off the lawn... after the storm the lawn was a mess of wind-blown twigs. Just great.

And I guess there are more coming...

30 Metres Per Second?

Seems more than a bit fast and more like a Cyclone or as they are called in the Northern Hemisphere a Hurricane.

Defiantly not something you want to live through too often.

we had a catagory one hurricane 8 yrs ago that snapped trees and utility pools, made a heck of a mess; we went without power for a week. Thankfully. the weather was decent afterwards.

Hope it passes without anymore damage.

we had a fun one

on Christmas day. 100km/h winds, hail ranging up to the size of billiards balls, flash flooding.

I was lucky enough to not have any damage, one of the (few) advantages of living on the side of a hill.

Wow! Sounds like the winds we have!

Here in Oklahoma, we have 40 mile per hour winds seems like every week...
then there's the higher gusts we get. You learn to keep an eye on the weather

30 mps?

by CharlieSpencer In reply to We had a big storm here.. ...

Meters per second? What's that in kilometer per hour?

Let's see, 30 mps x 60 seconds per minute = 900 meters per minute, x 60 minutes per hour = 54,000 meters per hour = 54 kph, or roughly 35 miles per hour?

That can't be right; 35 mph wouldn't **** over a dandelion.

But you knew that by now :)
So it's over 108km/h and around 70mph

Force 2 Cyclone

On a 5 point scale where 1 is the lowest and 5 the most intense Tropical Storm possible. Or as some here would say a Slight Blow.

Here that isn't even a Category 1 hurricane.

What do a tornado, a hurricane, and a divorce in South Carolina all have in common?
Somebody's gonna lose a double-wide trailer.
