Web Access Outlook unable to get inbox

By BenSil ·
Scenario: WinNT 4.0 (SP6), Exchange Server 5.5 (SP3), mail accounts accessed via Internet Explorer browser.

Random users are getting the message "Web Access Outlook cannot get your inbox" when access is attempted via the browser. The MS white paper suggestions of spaces in the user names or too-large profiles don't apply. The mail can be accessed successfully via Outlook 98 with a profile.

If anybody has had this experience, please reply with your solution.

Web Access Outlook unable to get inbox

I know you've probably got this covered, but are your OWA users prefixing their NT logon name with your domain name?

ie at the logon prompt
domain/username

We had some trouble with this, until I realised that our people had forgotten touse the domain name as well.

Just a thought

For OWA to work properly, users must be given the "Log on Locally" access right on the Exchange server from within User Manager.

Being able to access mails thru Outlook rules out the possibility af any problem with the mailbox. This is a clear case of authentication problem where the user is expected to provide credentials (domain\username and password) of a valid user account associated with his mailbox. Check out whether the user is typing in the right credentials.
