Hi there. I’m looking for a company to build my learning platform. And since I have a very sad (and expensive) experience with just a random developer I found online, I decided to ask for help. Can you recommend a good and reliable company that can build me my learning platform?

Sorry, no. Any such answer would be considered spam and deleted.

You might prefer a more or less local company (not an off-shore one, say one from Vietnam or India or Ukrain, if you live in Canada or Australia or the UK). And you might prefer a bigger company, with a better portfolio of sites they maintain and an account manager you feel you can trust, above a freelancer with bad reviews.

And, of course, the contract should not be to pay upfront, although – if it’s a big project – you probably can’t escapy paying regularly during the project whenever a milestone is reached.

So I’ve been doing my research and asking people. I think this post can be helpful to many.

Yeah, I agree that it’s better to consider local developers. And I came across this article … with some pretty detailed instruction on how to do it. Would I be able to do it myself (I do have some web dev background) or maybe with some help from a professional?

I see you found a trusted company to do it. Great.

However, if the instructions you read are pretty detailed, and you feel you can do it yourself given your web dev background, just go ahead. Or contact that company (or any developer you find online) to see if they offer the option to just help you when necessary. That would be cheaper then if they do all.
