Web based asset tracking

By james ·
Hello

I am curious to know if there is a open source type of web based asset tracking. Basically I want to know if there is a way I can have a checkout system in which I can add equipment and have a user have the ability to check out/reserve or see who has the current equipment checked out?

any ideas, even if its not open source, let me know please

Thanks
James

Open Source

http://www.sf.net is a good place to start when looking for open source apps.

http://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_search=soft&type_of_search=soft&words=asset+tracking
shows several web based asset tracking apps.

Most of the open source apps at sf.net have paid support available.

Sounds like Tracmor is exactly what you're looking for. And it's open source.

What works great for us is share calendars in our server based Email system. You can give people access to see it, and you can give them rights to edit also. Best part is most companies already have an email system set up.
Iv'e seen this setup in Exchange, and Groupwise.
