In reply to web based mail servers
A web based server will support browser-based administration, virtual site administration through a URL, and user administration (e.g., password, automatic email response, email forwarding) through the same URL.
Yahoo! Servers are Cobalt RaQ Dedicated Servers which allow for root access, FTP, Web, and email, in addition to virtual domain support mentioned above. Each machine can concurrently handle over “140,000 emails, 50,000 file transfers, and over 250,000 web page requests in one day.”
All Cobalt RaQ Dedicated Servers include the following standard features: Linux OS, Apache Web Server, FTP Server, SendMail, Majordomo List Server, FrontPage Support, Name-based Virtual Hosting, Web-based Server Administration, and Yahoo!’s DNS Administration Tool.
On a Yahoo! server, you can: run Active Server Pages, Cold Fusion, database applications, chat servers, mail system applications, and more. You can even configure a dedicated Yahoo! server to stream media.
A dedicated server is yours to use exclusively, so you have 100% of the processor and 100% of the available disk space working for you. Additionally, the bandwidth for the server is 100% yours. You are not sharing your bandwidth with anyone else. Therefore, OutlookExpress would pose no problems.
