I have a very simple question. I would like to purchase some very simple software for intranet use only, that allows for easy creation of links, tables and most importantly, a text search of the complete site. I am not looking to have to do any programming to accomplish this.

You may have what we call your specification and maybe enough to put out a RFQ (Request For Quote) so what’s the issue?

I would be guessing you want others to search with what you’ve written but that’s not asked and what you did write is incomplete as to what OS, where this runs and more.

I thought it was a simple question. Are there any recommended software packages for purchase that would do intranet development, including hyperlinks and text searching of all the pages. I’ve played with NetFusion, but the search capability is quite poor.

Also, we would prefer to just buy a package and not pay a monthly fee for it.

Looks like a custom app to me.

Please try to ask questions. These would be like “Do you know where I can buy vanilla ice cream?” That’s a question. So far we didn’t get a question but a part of what said software would do, easy but omitting what OS it runs on and maybe more.

To me this sounds custom. You may want to flesh out your requirements in the typical RFQ document and then submit it to sites such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiverr for folk to either create or curate what you are after.

I’ll be clear. I know of document management systems (DMS) that with some work and dollars can do what you want but these are 5 figure USD apps that I get the feeling fail on your easy requirement.

You know, if you don’t have any answers that’s fine, then don’t answer!
I am looking for some software to generate some internal web pages for internal documentation purposes. I would like links to browse as well as search capability, built in to the software. My question is quite simple!!! We don’t want to have to write a bunch of JavaScript to accomplish the search capability.

If this looks like a custom application to you, then I don’t know what to say!!!

your rather vague question, practice a little HTML editing using Notepad (assuming you are a Windows user, if not, use whatever text editor your OS has). Notepad can search whatever it is you are working on. Learning HTML allows you to also create tables, forms, etc.! There are also freeware HTML editors in abundance, one of those may meet your needs. At one time, I used plain old Edit in MS DOS 6.22 and Lynx 386 browser to create my websites (now defunct), even had a information request form on one, could also be used for ordering. For help with HTML authoring, check out the W3C website.

I know HTML. I am weak on JavaScript. I am not looking to develop software with this solution!!! That seems to be very difficult for people to understand.

The goal is to have a system that can be managed by non-technical users. Add links, searches, etc., to quickly have several intranet only html pages. NET Objects Fusion actually wasn’t bad, but it lacked search capability from what I could tell.

We are open to purchasing software to meet some very simple needs. That’s it!
