Web filtering

By jbrooks828 ·
I am looking for a software based web-filtering software that can also provide reports on bandwidth usage per user. This is for a business with around 75 users

Though it is not strictly software based I would strongly recommend looking into setting up a stand-alone Untangle device (http://www.untangle.com) if you have access to some unused hardware. It is freely available, very configurable, and does provide usage statistics reports that may be useful. It also has some paid add-ons if you want to integrate it with Active Directory or implement a Kaspersky AV filter into it.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks.

I don't know your abilities, but I work for a school district. We have about 5000 users. I installed a linux box running squid (proxy) and dansguardian (very powerful and flexible filtering software). I use a program called sarg (Squid Analysis Report Generator) to give me daily reports (via email or webpage) as to each user's bandwidth and top sites, largest bandwidth used sites, etc. Top it off with some Active Directory/NTLM authentication, enforce settings via GP and you have a system that's sweet! Users don't have to authenticate themselves and it's transparent to them.
