Web interface - VBNET vs. VB6?

By emy2me ·
I do some application development for in-house using Visual Basic. I have not done any web applications development so far.

A project requiring a web interface which will connect to Oracle database is coming soon. From what I've read ASP is the way to go.

Presently I have VB6 as development tool. My questions are:
- Can I use VB6 for development of such web application or I definitely have to have VBNET?
- What would be a good book somebody can suggest to walk me through the development stages for the above described project?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Emy

either one

IF you're committed to remaining with Microsoft development tools, then either VB6 or VB.Net should work.

ASP.Net has backwards compatibility for COM objects, so you can still write your business logic in VB6 if you like. Of course, you unleash a lot more interoperability and functionality if you use VB.Net, but I understand cost and training can be a factor.

Sorry, I don't have any good book recommendations.
