Web publishing with MS Proxy2

By robinarm ·
I have MS Proxy 2, IIS4 and Exchange 5.5 all on a NT4 PDC. We use a Cisco 2500 router and intend to host or own site. Proxy has already been succesfully setup to allow E-mail and intranet browser access to the internet is fine. All local clients cansee default intranet site by typing in the www.XXXX.co.uk but Internet clients attempting to access the same get "unknown host" error message. Ports 80 and 443 for HTTP and HTTPS are allowed as is "Enable Web Publishing". Our Domain name is registerd. I've been thru the usual points outlined in other Q&A on simmilar subjects but still cant get it to work.
Any ideas??

You say to you intend to host or own site. Has it been done yet? Who is your domain registered to? To the web hosting company? DNS needs to be set for www.xxx.co.uk to resolve to the public IP address of your server. If not you need to have the internet clients find your default site by typing the IP address, i.e. http://x.x.x.x/index.html.

"unknown host" mean that internet client can't resolve www.xxx.co.uk to IP-Address.
Please check your DNS configuration on client. If your client is Windows NT or Unix-base, you can use "nslookup" program to keep track.

nslookup

Default Server: ns.xxx.co.uk <- Your DNS Server
Address: 202.20.100.1

Server: ns.xxx.co.uk
Address: 202.20.100.1

Name: www.xxx.co.uk
Address: 202.20.100.10 <- DNS can solve correctly.
