    Web Restriction

    Locked

    by erv12 ·

I’m running a stand alone machine (Windows XP Pro) that requires access to just one web page, and thats it. So i was wondering how to set this up so only that one page can be accessed and all others denied.

Thanks for any help or advice

It depends on how tech savvy your targe audience is, but aside from running extra software, you could try giving it a static IP address with no DNS servers listed, and then put in an entry in the hosts file for the one web site you want to get to.

Configure internet explorer for a proxy server that does not exist, and put the one web site on the proxy exclusion list. (it may help to put microsoft on the list for automatic updates)

You can then restrict the IE settings by applying a local security policy.

To do it all thru policy, see the following link:

This will let you set up a computer with what ever restrictions you want on it. Read the directions, I set up two work stations for people to get web access a limited email with it.
