Hello all,
I have been tasked with setting up a web server system for a professional business website that is going to be dishing out a lot of video. I am wondering what bandwidth requirements I can expect for this kind of system. I know it is hard to say without knowing how many hit/views I will be having, but I estimate it at around 40-50 concurrent videos being pushed at the same time. I am thinking about getting a full T1, but I have never dealt with the actual installation of a T1 before, only the occasional popping the card out and back in during issues type stuff.
A bit about me, I have a CS degree and have worked as a level1 network admin before, but I have never setup the entire system from scratch on my own before. The server setup will be a a netBSD (open to suggestions) system running LAMP. As for the firewall I am not sure what I should use. I was thinking of running another dedicated openBSD system running iptables, but I am now wondering if it is better to run a dedicated cisco type system instead?
I have so many questions about this stuff, and I have pretty much been thrown into the mix to make it happen over the next month. I am currently questioning if I have enough knowledge to pull it off. so in other words… HELP!
Thanks all!
