Website Link On Browser Using Name and Not IP

I have a web server hosting various virtual servers, one is for Helpdesk port xxxx.
I want the users to be able to type in their browser “Helpdesk” and pull up the site.
I created an alias for the site using helpdesk.
When we type in Helpdesk, it gives us the main webpage and not the actual Helpdesk site.
I can type in helpdesl:xxxx and it takes us to the helpdesk site.
How can I fix it to only use helpdesk in the browser?
