Weird hard drive connector? Help?

By chettech ·
Hi folks. I have a laptop hard drive (it says toshiba model mk3252gsx) that doesn't fit my adapter for ata or sata. It also doesn't look anything like scsi or sas. I'm stumped. I've taken pictures of the connection. It looks most like the sata but not like I've ever seen.

I need to get the data off of it which is why I've taken it out of the laptop. Thanx.

Also are you sure that this is a NB HDD or a HDD from one of the Video Recording Units they are both 2.5 inch drives?

Proprietary adapter

Some companies make a funny adapter plug that fits over the whole end of the drive for special wiring. It may look like it is part of the hard drive but it is not. Just grab it and pull it off. Don't force it, it should come right out because underneeth is your regular SATA Data and Power jacks. There is usually a metal drive sled too, also not part of the drive. It can be taken off with the screws on the sides. With all this junk on it the drive can look like something foreign but it is just to fool you. Silly engineers.

Thank you all. It was "a funny adapter plug that fits over the whole end of the drive for special wiring." Pulled it off no problem. Haha. Thank you again.
