westell wireless router

he there i want to know if i can change over a cable dsl modem to a cable wireless dsl modem that i got from my brother in law! do all i have to do is put in my login details and the router and it should work?

It's not as common these days but....
some service providers have the mac address of your router as part of their configuration, so a tech support call may be needed to them.

If your're with AT&T or one of the bigger providers, they don't use the mac-address for provisioning security, so this probably won't be an issue.

You need another wireless router

In such case you can use any wireless router in conjuction iwht this westell modem. You would need to configure it in bridge mode to operate with the wireless router.

However you can also ask to your ISP to replace the your westell modem to wireless routed modem.

Means thee are only one pair of solution.
* Use Westell Modem in bridge mode with additional wireless router(not routed modem)
* Aske your ISP to replace this westell modem to wireless routed modem
