WFV Folders in WINNT folder

REcently asked the question about these folders and it was determined that BackupExec software creates them while doing a virus scan. Now that there are over 500mb of these folders, is it necessary for their retention, and if not, is it safe to delete them. Losing 2mb space each day and would like to recover the space. Any suggestions/comments greatly appreciated.
