Some underrated Android features that users should try include app hibernation, which saves battery by putting unused apps to sleep, and screen recording, which can be accessed directly from the Quick Settings. The smart text selection feature uses AI to identify relevant options for copied text, like maps or dialing, and Quick Settings customization allows you to arrange shortcuts for faster access. Live Transcription offers real-time speech-to-text, while magnification gestures let you zoom in on the screen. Android also provides a Digital Wellbeing dashboard to track screen time, Nearby Share for fast file sharing, scheduled dark mode to reduce eye strain, and split-screen mode for multitasking. These hidden features can greatly improve your Android experience.

Some of these sound super cool, like the app hibernation thing to save battery I didn’t even know that was a thing! And Live Transcription sounds really helpful too, especially for someone who struggles with hearing. But I feel like the Digital Wellbeing dashboard isn’t that underrated? Like, isn’t it pretty obvious since it shows up in the settings all the time? Same with split-screen modeI thought everyone knew about it. But yeah, the magnification gestures and smart text selection definitely gotta try those out. Thanks for sharing

Split-Screen Mode, I’ve used it a few times and it’s super handy when you need to copy stuff between apps or watch something while texting. Also, Smart Lock sounds nice, but honestly, I don’t use it much. It’s like, do people really need their phone to stay unlocked all the time at home? Feels risky.

Digital Wellbeing and Focus Mode are okay too, I guess, but I feel like most people just ignore them? Or maybe that’s just me, lol. Nearby Share is super useful, though, especially when sharing photos or files quickly, so I get why you mentioned that.

Not sure about Guest Mode, though. Like, how often do people even hand their phone to someone else for long enough to need that? Seems kinda niche, but maybe I’m missing something.

One of my favorites is split-screen mode—you can run two apps at once, like watching a YouTube video while texting. Funny how people act like it’s a groundbreaking Apple feature, but Android’s had it forever

Here are some underrated Android features you should try:

Split Screen Mode – Multitask by using two apps at once. Just open an app, then swipe up to the recent apps menu and drag another app to the top.
One-Handed Mode – Make it easier to use large phones by reducing the screen size. Go to settings > System > Gestures > One-handed mode.
Smart Lock – Keep your phone unlocked in trusted locations or when connected to trusted devices. Found in settings > Security > Smart Lock.
Screen Recording – Record your screen without third-party apps. Just pull down the notification shade and tap the Screen Record icon.
Google Lens – Use your camera to search and get info about anything you see in the real world.

One of the most underrated Android features that I believe many users overlook is Guest Mode. It’s great for maintaining privacy when lending your phone to someone. You can enable it through the quick settings or user profile menu.
Another gem is Smart Lock, which keeps your phone unlocked in trusted environments or when it’s connected to a specific Bluetooth device. It reduces the hassle of constantly unlocking your phone without compromising security.
Additionally, I recommend users explore Digital Wellbeing. It’s a game-changer for managing screen time and maintaining focus.
Lastly, don’t sleep on File Sharing with Nearby Share, which offers a fast and seamless way to transfer files without external apps.
As someone in the refurbished smartphone industry, I’ve seen how discovering these features can significantly enhance the user experience. What are your favorite Android features?

My favorite Android feature is probably how you can share the Wi-Fi via a QR code instead of the Wi-Fi password to every single person who needs or wants it instead you can just give that to people. I believe it saves a lot of time doing that instead of having to read out your Wi-Fi password.

One underrated Android feature users should try is Guest Mode, which lets you create a temporary profile for others to use your phone without accessing your data. Another hidden gem is App Pinning, which locks an app on the screen, preventing accidental exits—great for lending your phone to kids. Smart Lock is also handy, keeping your device unlocked in trusted locations. The Files by Google app also offers a quick way to clean up storage and download files efficiently.
