Some say project management is a science, other say it is more of an art form. I say quite frankly its a royal pain in the, Anyway, regardless of what it is and is not, it is extremely important. A good project manager is worth their weight in platinum.
A buddy of mine says to me the other day “Jon, I have three types of project managers in my shop. One I can trust with my Life, one that does okay but occasionally comes through in the clutch, and one that just fails miserably at everything they do.” Often times you’ll find that organizations groom their own project managers. In an attempt to avoid my buddy’s mistake, I’d be curious to spark a discussion about this group’s opinions on the fundamental characteristics that make a good project manager?
