What causes Win98 to corrupt my ITP file

I have to constantly remove and then reinstall my ITP file on my WINDOWS 98 computer (on average about once a week). What is causing this file to be corrupted so often?

Also, I am getting sick and tired of Windows 98 “crashing” on me unexpectedly. There are many times when I am in the middle of something and Windows will simply freeze up and/or crash for no known reason, causing me to loose everything I was working on, and many times corrupting the file(s) that I had open (that I was working on).

I have to admit I don’t what your ITP file is but the rest of your question sounds like a hardware problem.

I’ve seen this kind of problem with overheated CPUs, bad motherboards, bad RAM modules, hard drives/controllers getting ready to go south,bad network cards and a whole bunch of times with powerline problems.

I would start with a commercial-grade surge suppressor (or UPS if you can swing it), then start checking component by component.

I had already checked all suggestions made, and found nothing to be the cause – at the time. My hard drive eventually crashed and was replaced by the company I bought my system from. However, I am still having similar problems after installing thenew hard drive with the system continuing to freeze and lock up at random.

It seems that your problems lie in the corrupted system files and/or corrupted files in your software.
Most simple method:
1) re-install your software which is using ITP file;
2)then re-check your system files:
start button –> (menu)programs –> accessories –> system info.
A program will come out. In its menu, choose
Tools –> system files checker
(This program will give a lot of tools to check other stuffs.)
3) If it cannot correct the problems; re-install the whole Windows 98.
4) If your windows 98 is installed on an already installed windows 95; it will likely to have problems. Best way is to install a windows 98 on a “clean” disk.

I have re-installed Windows98 several times – completely reformating my hard drive in order to do a clean install. This has not helped. I have not yet tried the system files checker. I will give it a try this afternoon.

Since your question is so old, you might as well just reload the latest versions of all software, and you’ll have a new set of problems to deal with. Heck, update all your hardware and operating systems while you’re at it. Have a real party.
