What do I do

By richardsolis2 ·
I recently was having my dell 6000 laptop freeze up everytime I log on. So I used my windows xp reinstallation cd but after installing it I got a blue screen error. The message said setup cannot copy the file: nvraidco.dll, I don't know if you can help me to resolve this problem

I had that problem too, a good way is to do a clean install. or load up comp in safe mode and go repair mode. Upgarde to profecional it's well worth it. If it is still under warrenty send it back.

An addendum to the UG bit if it's still UG before sending it back remember to save any of your data off the HDD so you don't loose it.

If you are in an industry where there is a Data Protection policy in place you may be required to return the unit without a HDD or maybe even with a new HDD fitted that is similar to the original one depends on Data Protection Policy that is in place if any.

If the NB is no longer booting you can fit the drive with a adepter to any desktop unit and save your data quite easily before you refit it to the NB and return it. Remember to save your address book, E-Mail, My Documents and Address Book as well as any data stored in 3rd party software like accounting packages and the like.

something you might check into, if you are able to open your laptop without voiding warranty. I had a raid controller problem on a new tower and discovered one of the sata cables had come unplugged, so the computer was running on just one of the drives, no backup was being done. That dll file is part of your raid setup and maybe there is an initilization problem as to why it can not be installed. Otherwise, I'm thinking like above, format drive, fresh install, if does not work, return unit.

You could have some bad blocks on the hard drive.

Download the diagnostic software for your harddrive from the manufacturer.

Here are the major manufacturers.

Western Digital

If the drive is a Toshiba, you can use the Hitachi/IBM.
