I need to design a powerline LAN for a three storey building, and Im not so sure what exactly I need to know. Most of the PLC equipment are preety straight forward to install, but is that really all to it?How do my bandwidth requirements affect my LAN design? How does distance affect it too?If you can help,Id greatly appreciate it!

One important consideration is that when using powerline networking, the nodes can not be separated by a transformer.
Also the ones I have used were for consumer style installations and did not get the advertised throughput. My suggestion would be to query the supplier as to QoS and how the firmware treats bandwidth priority.

What do I need to know and consider when setting up a powerline LAN?
